I believe

US vs Mexico World Cup Qualifier.
President Elect Donald Trump.

Dear American Outlaws, these things should not mix tonight.
A few months ago AO took a stand against the "puto" chant. I'd never been prouder to be a US supporter. I wish to see that same standard to the code of conduct tonight.

I'm sure there are Trump supporters in the group. Don't make the chants against Mexico about him. Frankly, I hope to not hear anything negative against Mexico tonight. The stakes are now higher than the game.

Have fun, stay safe, and hug it out after the game no matter the score.

Let's keep the rivalry about the game.

ETA: I found all these links after the game, and although we lost, I couldn't be prouder of the statements before and during the game.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more

This Friday I will be attending the US Men's vs Colombia Copa América Centenario opener at Levi's Stadium.

It's the first time I will be in a supporter's section for a US game in about 10 years. I'm curious as to how the culture has changed since I was so deeply involved in it. I'm hoping that it's not become too bro-tastic, but to be honest I'm afraid that ship has sailed as soccer has gotten more popular in this country.

I will be making a visual protest regarding the current dispute with the women's team by not only wearing my women's jersey (3 stars!), but having "#equalplayequalpay" on the jersey front and back. I'm hoping to have other supporters join me in this.

This will be the last time I give U.S. Soccer money until this is resolved.

No corporate welfare!

Do not ever accept a professional sports team using tax dollars to build their houses.

Kudos to the Seattle Starting 5!

I believe that SHE will win!

DO

WE

REALLY

NEED

TO

DEBATE

THIS???

SHOW THEM THE MONEY!!!

(I've included the Forbes article because of his strawman argument of taking into account the lack of attendance at the club level. This ain't about the NWSL.)

Thank you, Steph

A) I didn't know he made these comments until now.
B) I think this is an even bigger statement than even Dave Zirin says they are, but Zirin does point out exactly why they are not "tepid" nor "neutral".
This man is currently one of the most famous people on the planet. What he said about HB2 is staggeringly huge. Especially since Jordan never said shit about anything political. He was diplomatic, but he was straight-talkingly (pun intended) clear.

Caps

So U.S. Soccer is beginning a program where member subscribers get benefits based on the number of games they attended.

Nice idea.

They then said they would search various sources to try and figure out how many games (caps) you've been to.

Again, nice idea.

According to what they found, I've attended three games. I've actually attended 29.

Bad execution.

One of three games they picked (MNT vs Germany in 2013) I didn't even go to. One game they missed was last year's WNT game against Ireland. The first game I attended after I signed up as a subscriber...Bad database.

I realize getting this info is a Herculean task, but the fact they counted games I didn't go to (and I'm not the only one) makes me wonder how they did this?

It has sent me down memory lane as I go online to find photos of me at different games. Epic Throwback Thursday time. :)

The #CamShow

All credit to the Broncos defense. They COMPLETELY took Cam out of the game. The heartbreaking thing for me was after the Bengals narrow loss to the Broncos in the Battle of the Backups, it showed that they could have won that game as well.

But that's not what you want to talk about.

You want to talk about Cam behaving badly!

I'll admit it. He should have sucked it up and faced reporters and given more complete answers and not behaved like Bill Belichick (see what I did there?).

The man got embarrassed in the biggest game of his life. He'll learn from it, work on it, and get better at it. It still doesn't mean you get to spew your racist bullshit about him.

We got a black quarterback so step back!

MVP Cam Newton! Let me say that again, MVP Cam Newton!

I have never wanted to see a blowout in a game that didn't have the Bengals in it.
I want Cam to be the face of the NFL. I want to see his face on ALL the ads the same way we see Peyton now.

I think you can figure out why.

I am old enough to come from a time where it was "just common sense" that blacks couldn't lead the team.

It's hilarious that people argue that this hate has nothing to do with race. He showboats too much?

Really?

Look, no shade to Peyton Manning. In fact, I'll give the Sheriff the last word here about Cam:

He finished by saying of Newton’s Superman celebration and habit of giving the ball to a kid: “I think it’s great, and I think it’s great for football.”

But that's none of my business

Dear Marvin,

You've done a fine job with this team. Really. The Bengals were the league joke for the longest time. Arrests, fines, losing as the standard, etc. etc. You've managed to turn the franchise around. They became division champions, playoff contenders, a team of outstanding athletes and individuals.

Yes, yes–here comes the "but".

Some of your players lost control against the Steelers, and that's on them and you. It speaks volumes that I thought it was over when the fumble happened. The Steelers were backed up on their 10 yard line, the clock was under two minutes, they had to go 60 yards, and I still thought the Bengals would find a way to lose. They got 30 on two 15 yard penalties. That's on you coach. I've never been so disappointed in a team than I was after that game. It looks like you're getting another chance at this. You have a damn good team on your hands. Teach them, drill them, don't let the other team bait you. It's only mental at this point. Show me you're smart enough to get them over the top. Please make me eat my words next time.

Oh yeah and Cincy fans? Stop throwing shit at players. You ain't Philly.

And now a word from the Philadelphia Ballet

A Facebook user recently commented that the Eagles had "played like they were wearing tutus!!!"

Our response:

"With all due respect to the Eagles, let's take a minute to look at what our tutu wearing women have done this month:

By tomorrow afternoon, the ballerinas that wear tutus at Pennsylvania Ballet will have performed The Nutcracker 27 times in 21 days. Some of those women have performed the Snow scene and the Waltz of the Flowers without an understudy or second cast. No 'second string' to come in and spell them when they needed a break. When they have been sick they have come to the theater, put on make up and costume, smiled and performed. When they have felt an injury in the middle of a show there have been no injury timeouts. They have kept smiling, finished their job, bowed, left the stage, and then dealt with what hurts. Some of these tutu wearers have been tossed into a new position with only a moments notice. That's like a cornerback being told at halftime that they're going to play wide receiver for the second half, but they need to make sure that no one can tell they've never played wide receiver before. They have done all of this with such artistry and grace that audience after audience has clapped and cheered (no Boo Birds at the Academy) and the Philadelphia Inquirer has said this production looks "better than ever".

So no, the Eagles have not played like they were wearing tutus. If they had, Chip Kelly would still be a head coach and we'd all be looking forward to the playoffs."

Happy New Year!
