I was amused in watching the Manchester United game today, to see the Happy Chinese New Years ads on the signboards.

It shows both what the British Empire has learned, and has not.

By marketing to their Chinese fans, they realize they are much broader market, But but by only wishing happy new year to the Chinese, they make the assumption that all Asians are Chinese.

A pet peeve

Speaking of Chicharito, despite having the nickname on the back of the jersey, English announcers insist on calling him Javier Hernandez. The American ones, that I've seen at least, call him by his nickname.
I find it a little dismissive.

The definition of bittersweet

Being a US fan and a Manchester United fan, then watching Chicharito head in the winning goal for the Red Devils against Tim Howard.
